Most Inspiring Film Ever
The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005)
The most inspiring and motivating movie I have ever found till now.
It is a true story of a working-class kid who falls in love with golf during the early 1900s at a time when golf was the game played by gentlemen.
This film tells us about the famous Francis Ouimet who was the first amateur to ever win the US Open in the year 1913.
It holds many great lessons and helps us to thrive & survive in this competitive world.
Lesson 1:
| Even in our darkest hour, we must always remember – Never to Despair |
Francis (Shia LaBeouf) at the age of 10 learnt this great lesson from his role model Harry Vardon (Stephen Dillane) who used be the number 1 golf player of his time.
Lesson 2:
If you are honest to your self and follow your passion then one day you will soon reach the pinnacle. Just follow your passion and your heart
Francis wants to play golf but he is not allowed to play because he is not wealth and not a gentleman. Even he gets resistance from his father. But Francis has this passion to play golf, not for money or family name or success but for himself, Self-Satisfaction and Self-Actualization.
Lesson 3:
If you have the Attitude, Courage & Passion then Success has nothing to do with Experience
Harry Vardon was an icon and considered to be the best player ever across the globe during that period. And he was Franciss role model and childhood hero but Francis seizes an opportunity to enter the U.S. Open and challenge his role model. He even defeats Harry The Conqueror and it is called The Greatest Game Ever Played
Lesson 4:
There are only two types of player -Those who keep their nerves in control and win championships and those who do not
The Greatest Game Ever Played had begun and Francis was trying his best to win each of the rounds. His only motivation or guide was a book written by Harry Vardon and it said Those who keep their nerves in control will win championships.
Lesson 5:
Never let your past indulge in present
Harry Vardon as a kid struggled a lot and it took many sleepless nights to reach the position what he was during that time. While playing he used to listen to awkward voices which he heard as a child. Because of that he used to miss couple of shots which he not all has to miss. And this has lead to his defeat in the finals. So never let the past conquer our present.
Lesson 6:
Success depends on the Team & Collaboration even though you are alone, you have to have a team
Francis and his 10 year old caddy (Eddie Lowery) have always played as a team and have become friends. During the final match his caddy was asked not to report because they were arranging a mature caddy to assist him in his place.Francis tells his 10 year old caddy, Forget all of them. Were playing our own game, and focus on nothing but the ball and how to get it in the hole. We have played as a team and we are friends.
Lesson 7:
Always Keep your head down!
Francis had certain people rattle his confidence, his friends, father, professionals, golf club members let him down. But Francis has had followed only one rule Always Keep your head down. There was a conversation between his caddy Eddie and himself something like:
| Eddie Lowery: You gotta’ settle down Francis. Francis Ouimet: Yeah, and how do you expect to do that?Eddie Lowery: [looking at Francis] You just havetuh play better.Eddie Lowery: Keep your head down! |
Lesson 8:

Francis and his young caddy-Eddie
Friendship has no age
Francis and his very young caddy EddieThe relationship between Francis Ouimet and his very young caddy Eddie Lowery is depicted really well.
Why to watch:
“The best film ever for Motivation, Inspiration, Leadership, Team Work and Friendship”.
It has some awesome sceneries, landscapes and mind blowing golf played in rain. It has many lessons of Golf & nerve breaking game between Francis and Goliaths. So much of inspiration and lots about friendship & love.
Totally a very great film to watch any time even for those who do not really understand golf completely.
Plot:
Near the turn of the twentieth century, young Harry Vardon becomes a champion golfer but learns that his amazing skill is no match for the class boundaries that exclude him from gentlemanly English society.
A dozen years later, a young American, Francis Ouimet, fights against the same prejudice, as well as his own fathers disdain, for a chance to participate in the U.S. Open against his idol Harry Vardon. The struggles of both men for acceptance provides the background for an amazing contest of skills.
Business Ideas:
